At Fraser Callaghan Endodontics, we provide advanced care focused on diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the dental pulp and root canal system. Fraser's aim is always to preserve natural teeth wherever possible through precise, modern endodontic treatment.
Using advanced diagnostic technology, the operating microscope and contemporary endodontic techniques, every case is approached with careful attention to detail and patient comfort. Referrals are welcomed from dentists across Scotland and the Lake District for both routine and complex cases.
Endodontic Services
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is performed when the dental pulp inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This may occur as a result of deep decay, trauma, cracks in the tooth or previous dental procedures.
During treatment, the infected tissue is carefully removed from the root canal system. The canals are then cleaned, disinfected and sealed to prevent further infection. This allows the natural tooth to be preserved and continue functioning normally. Root canal treatment is carried out using high magnification and specialised instruments to ensure precision and long-term success.
Fees
Incisor / Premolar – £795
Molar – £895
Root Canal
Re-Treatment
In some cases, a tooth that has previously had root canal treatment may develop further infection. This may occur if the canals were difficult to locate or access during the initial procedure
Root canal re-treatment involves carefully removing the previous root filling material, thoroughly disinfecting the canals and resealing the tooth. With the aid of modern magnification and advanced imaging, many teeth that might otherwise require extraction can be successfully treated.
Fees
Incisor / Premolar – £895
Molar – £995
Endodontic Microsurgery
Occasionally infection may persist around the tip of the root despite previous treatment. In these situations, endodontic microsurgery may be recommended.
This procedure involves accessing the root tip through the surrounding gum tissue and removing the infected area. The end of the root canal is then sealed to prevent further infection. Fraser performs endodontic microsurgery using specialised microsurgical techniques, often employing state of the art piezoelectric technology for bone and root manipulation to ensure accuracy and minimise trauma to surrounding tissues.

Referrals and Appointments
Referrals are welcomed from dentists for both routine and complex endodontic cases.
Patients experiencing dental pain or those who have been advised by their dentist that they may require root canal treatment are also welcome to contact the practice directly to arrange a consultation.
Fees
Consultation fee – £75
CBCT scan – £200
Management of Fractured Instruments
During previous root canal treatment, extremely small metal files can occasionally fracture within the canal system. These fragments may prevent effective cleaning of the canals and can compromise treatment outcomes.
Using the operating microscope and specialist ultrasonic techniques, it is often possible to safely locate and either remove or bypass fractured instruments so that treatment can proceed successfully.
Fee
£200
(in addition to the relevant root canal treatment fee)
A perforation is a small communication between the root canal system and the surrounding tissues. This can occur due to trauma, infection or complications during previous treatment.
Non-surgical perforation repair involves sealing the defect with a specialised biocompatible material in order to restore the integrity of the tooth and prevent further infection.
Fee
£200
(in addition to the relevant root canal treatment fee)
