About Fraser Callaghan
Fraser Callaghan provides advanced root canal treatment and endodontic care for patients referred by dentists across Scotland and the Lake District. His clinical practice is dedicated exclusively to endodontics, providing expert root canal treatment and the management of complex root-related dental problems.
Fraser graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 with commendation. Following graduation he completed his vocational training year in general practice, gaining experience across all aspects of dentistry, including both general and cosmetic treatments.
In 2010 he successfully passed the examinations required to become a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Over the following years he worked as an associate dentist in several practices across the central belt of Scotland, developing his clinical experience and building a reputation for high-quality patient care.
In 2015 Fraser became co-owner of a dental practice in Edinburgh, which he successfully ran for six years. After this period in practice ownership, he made the decision to return his focus entirely to clinical dentistry and to further develop his interest in endodontics.

Having spent many years working within cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, Fraser developed a strong interest in endodontics; the field of dentistry concerned with root canal treatment and the management of complex root injuries.
Over recent years he has undertaken extensive postgraduate education both in the UK and internationally to further develop his expertise in this area. He is currently completing a Masters degree in Endodontics, due to be awarded in 2026.
Fraser uses a range of highly specialised equipment to deliver precise and predictable endodontic care, including:
Dental Operating Microscope
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) 3D Imaging
Piezoelectric Bone Surgery
Computerised Anaesthesia Delivery Systems
These technologies allow for greatly enhanced diagnosis and optimal visibility during treatment, as well as the highest levels of patient comfort at all times. With CBCT imaging in particular it is often possible to identify root canal anatomy which would previously have been missed, very often resulting in failed healing or compromised outcomes.
Originally from the Scottish Highlands, Fraser spent more than 25 years living and working in both Edinburgh and Glasgow before relocating to the Lake District. Outside of dentistry he enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hiking, fell running and loch swimming — activities that reflect his love of the landscapes of both Scotland and the Lake District.

Teaching, Education & Professional Contributions
Alongside his clinical work, Fraser has also contributed to dentistry through education and professional involvement within the industry.
He previously spent three years as a clinical trainer for newly qualified dentists working within NHS Scotland. Furthermore, from 2015 to 2021 he held the position of lecturer and opinion-leading dentist for dental materials manufacturer Ivoclar Vivadent, and has also served as an editorial board member for Dentistry Scotland magazine and as a judge for the Dentistry Scotland Awards.
